If the veterinarian determines, within ten days of purchase, that your cat is clinically ill or has passed away from a physical condition that has been maintained or is likely to have been contracted by the date of purchase, you have the following options:

• Return the kitten for a complete refund.
• Return the kitten for a replacement kitten of equal value.
• Retain the kitten and receive reimbursement for reasonable veterinary fees, not exceeding the purchase price.
• These options do not apply where a seller, who has provided a health certificate issued by a veterinarian, discloses in writing at the time of sale the health problem for which the buyer later seeks to return the kitten.

You have the same options as outlined above if, within 30 days of purchase, a licensed veterinarian discovers that your kitten has an inherent or inherited defect that negatively affects the animal’s health or that your kitten passed away as a result of an innate or genetic defect.

Within two days of receiving the veterinarian’s certificate of your little cat’s illness, you should provide the dealer with the name, address, and phone number of the inspecting veterinarian.
